The Daily Pennsylvanian is the independent student-run newspaper of the University of Pennsylvania. Three-time Pacemaker Award winners, known as the “Pulitzer Prize” of college journalism.
In 2020 before my term as Design Editor ended, I initiated a re-branding for the DP's digital platforms. This included a re-design of the website, daily newsletter, and social media assets.

'DEAR PENN' NEWSLETTER

Logo and UI/UX design for 'Dear Penn' based on new DP brand guidelines I developed.

'Dear Penn' is sent every morning on weekdays. Using the concept of our newsletter being at the top of your inbox, I incorporated a rising sun into the newsletter logo while sticking to the DP's signature red for the type.
When considering the user experience, we added reader personalization and took more of a streamlined approach to how we organized content. I used numbers to succinctly convey the top stories of the day, and included square article imagery for easy scalability and to break up the text.

@DAILYPENN INSTAGRAM

Digital design and iconography for @dailypenn based on the new DP brand guidelines I developed.

Our readership is increasingly turning to our Instagram account for bite-sized versions of our articles. I developed a template for spotlight article headlines, feature stories, and an identity for the "Top 5" Editors Picks Instagram Story series that directed back to our website.
